It is estimated that one spends a total of 235 days of their entire lifetime in waiting. Either scrolling through your phone in a cafe lineup or anticipating someone’s return, the concept of waiting is nothing new. Humans spend so much time in waiting, with a fluctuation of stances to take on in a lineup, there is no set idea of waiting.
It arrives with casual familiarity; we are all well at ease with the drumming of our fingers, the tapping of our shoes, the drifting of our minds when boxed in solitude. The action builds an inevitable routine throughout our days. We spend time waiting in lines, waiting in anticipation, waiting with longing, waiting to stay some more, to linger between life’s invisible lines. This photo essay explores waiting, an experience both universal and ultimately unavoidable. What happens while we wait? What exactly are we waiting for? |
