Letting Your Imagination Run Free; With Makeup

Letting Your Imagination Run Free; With Makeup

People tend not to realize how important it is to exercise your creative ability to its full potential. As we go on about our everyday lives, we experience high levels of stress, and the best way to balance that is with a creative and artistic outlet. One in particular is makeup. This photo essay displays the process of playing around with creative and colourful makeup to see where it takes you. What's beautiful about makeup is that you don't always need to have a clear idea going in. You start and let the rest just happen. It'll change throughout the way, but when you trust the process, you'll see that you've created an artistic masterpiece on your face. It's beautiful! In this photo essay, Visual Arts student Devin decided to focus specifically on bright and vibrant colors to give a festival-like look. Follow along to see the transformation of grade 11 student Mikayla Tong through Devin's imagination of what can be done with makeup!

The products you'll be needing! Includes blush, concealer, eyeshadow, lip liner and lip gloss.
Picture
Start off with a light base on the eyes. Something white or beige to make sure the colours POP!
Picture
All the colors to choose from. Starting off with a vibrant pink.
Picture
First step is to create a layout of your vision as a guide, and do whatever feels right from there.
Picture
Blend, blend, blend those colours! It's perfectly all right to use your fingers, as it may even be more precise.
Picture
At this point through the process, after playing with colours, Devin has decided on a rainbow eye look. Now onto the base where she's using contour.
Picture
Brighten up that face with some blush. Devin is playing around and being creative with the placement by blending it into the eyeshadow.
Picture
By placing blush higher up on your cheekbone and blending into the temples, it gives that "face life" illusion.

Focus and concentration is key!
Picture
Finish that up by making sure everything is blended and smoothed out. Don't be scared of colour and, don't be scared of your makeup seeming "intense". Let your imagination be free!

Final touches include mascara, making sure the dark lashes bring focus to the light and playful eye look.

The finished colorful look.
