Rocking out to Records!

A Photo Essay by Jaden Jackson.
Music is a language that helps people connect with one another. A song is able to convey a thousand words, capture emotions and connect people.  People, especially teens, usually listen to music on their phones, but using a phone can only provide so much of a song. Records, apart from looking cool, give the listener a richer experience. Listeners go on a musical journey of unique melodies and musical arrangements as the record spins on the track. Records are a unique and immersive way to listen. You get introduced to a culture that goes deeper into the music.

Why care about records? Using a phone is a much easier way of accessing one’s music, after all.  But in owning a vinyl record you don’t just listen to a song, you are experiencing the whole artistry of the singer or band. A record is a tangible manifestation of the artistry and concept of the music.  Listening to a record provides audiences with a complete story of the album. Each record is different and interesting. Without records, music would not be where it is today. More people should experience music through listening to vinyl -- they are much more relevant than you think.
